Step by Step
Enjoy a volcanic hiking route through one of the most famous places on the island of Tenerife. This is an activity that lasts approximately three hours for small groups of around seven people. A local guide will take you along the less travelled paths in this area.
The area where you will go on the hiking route is Malpaís, located in the east of Tenerife, specifically in the Malpaís de Güímar Special Nature Reserve. It is, in fact, a place that looks like something out of a science fiction film. The terrain is practically desert and combines the black of solidified lava with red sand, making visitors believe they are somewhere outside the Earth.
Another place you will visit with this reserve is the Caldera de la Rilla. You'll take a hike around the crater while your guide explains the history behind the eruption. The eruption created a perfectly shaped crater, an oval 400 m long and 300 m wide, composed almost exclusively of ash with some rocky blocks at the end.
During this hike, where travellers will be offered sticks and snowshoes for better walking on the trail, a number of snacks will be included for you to take during the break.
You also have the option of a relaxed start to the tour as this reserve offers the possibility of a transfer to and from your hotel.
