Savannah is one of the most historically significant cities in the United States. It was the first capital of Georgia, and a key port in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Pre-war architecture and some colonial-era buildings can still be seen on its streets.

The city is noted for its historic district and manicured parks, but also for being considered the most haunted city in the United States. The building, which opened as a hotel, was often used as a hospital. Hundreds of children and adults died in it, victims of a yellow fever epidemic. Within its walls there were also other incidents, such as the murder of a drunkard by a doctor, and the lynching of an innocent man during the Civil War.
