The cathedral, which was begun in 1858 and completed in 1878, was designed by architect James Renwick Jr. It is one of the most important Gothic cathedrals in the United States and the exterior of the cathedral is characterised by its soaring spires and intricate stone carvings.
Inside, as you'll see once you enter, you'll notice beautiful stained glass windows, elaborate altars and a large organ, as well as sculptures such as a large Pieta.
St. Patrick's Cathedral is an active place of worship and holds regular religious services, such as daily masses and special liturgical events.
