Enjoy a two and a half hour guided walking tour of the African Burial Ground National Monument and the Underground Railroad. Two iconic sites that reveal the history of slavery in New York.

You will visit the African Burial Ground National Monument, where the remains of more than 419 African Americans (some free, most of them slaves) are buried in the 17th and 18th centuries. Since April 19, 1993, this site has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

During the tour, your guide will explain the history of slavery in the world's capital and you will learn about the freeing of slaves in the 1800s.

You'll also explore the Underground Railroad, as you learn how this mode of transportation became a clandestine network that allowed thousands of slaves to escape from the United States.

After this tour you'll get a full picture of how slavery was experienced in the world's capital socially, politically and economically.

    Our guide was great, he knew very well what he was talking about. The only thing that could be improved is that the group was quite big, I would have liked a smaller group.
