Step by Step
Discover the beautiful boundaries of Charleston on a nearly half-day tour of lighthouses, beaches and forts through natural areas of the city.
On this guided tour you'll walk to explore the Lowcountry, and if there are more than 2 participants there will be some driving.
Take a leisurely stroll through renowned sites such as:
- Charleston Harbor: a historic site in the city, this is home to Fort Sumter, the military garrison that received the first attacks during the Civil War.
- Folly Beach: a small beach town where water sports such as surfing and kayaking are popular. A favourite spot for fishermen, you can swim in the water and if you're lucky you'll see dolphins passing by the pier.
- The Citadel: one of the most important military academies in the United States, founded in 1842.
- Sullivan's Island: it is a beautiful island bathed by the Atlantic Ocean that is characterised by its wide white sandy beaches, for offering the practice of different water sports, for its bars and restaurants.
You can also visit Sullivan's Island Lighthouse, which is considered the ugliest lighthouse in the United States, and the Morris Island Lighthouse, which is the sixth oldest lighthouse in the country.
As you go on your tour, a guide will tell you stories about colonial America, the multitude of imported African slaves, the first naval battle, the first shots fired in the Civil War and other interesting facts.
At one of the stops on the tour you'll enjoy a delicious snack and bottled water, included in the tour.
