Seville Maria Luisa Park and Plaza de España Tour

This walking tour lasts approximately 2 hours and touches the points of Seville linked to one of the most important events in its recent history: the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929. The unquestionable symbol of Seville and the Ibero-American Exposition is Plaza de España, an architectural jewel that combines Renaissance and neo-Moorish elements. Its grandeur combined with its beauty leaves no one indifferent: it covers an area of 50,000 square metres, is semicircular in shape and is embellished with tiles dedicated to the different Spanish provinces. Another striking detail is the canal that runs parallel to the building and is crossed by four bridges.

The Plaza de España was designed by Aníbal González, an architect who was as important to Seville as Gaudí was to Barcelona. Thanks to its attractiveness, this urban space has been the setting for films and series such as Game of Thrones, Lawrence of Arabia and Star Wars II - Attack of the Clones.

Not far away is another must-see destination: Maria Luisa Park. The guide will tell you about the genesis of this green area, which was created from the gardens of the Palace of San Telmo, donated to the city in 1893. Its current appearance is due to the French engineer Forestier; thanks to his work we can admire picturesque corners such as the Isleta de los Pájaros, Monte Gurugú or the Glorieta de Bécquer.

Within the María Luisa Park is the beautiful Plaza de América. It is rectangular in shape and houses six drinking fountains created by the artist Juan Ramón Lafita in 1964. The space is delimited by three iconic buildings with different architectural styles: the Museum of Popular Arts and Customs (Mudejar), the Royal Pavilion (Gothic) and the Archaeological Museum (Renaissance).
