Step by Step
Enjoy an excursion to the high peaks and the Bandama volcano in Gran Canaria. A local guide will accompany you for the whole day, which lasts about 8 hours. If you want, you can check if one of the designated pick-up hotels is close to your accommodation to go there or you can go directly to the meeting point.
The excursion starts with a hike up to the Caldera de Bandama, which together with the Bandama peaks forms a natural monument within Tafira, a protected environmental area. If you decide to join the tour on a Saturday, you can visit the farmers' market in Vega de San Mateo (only open on Saturdays). There you can try various tropical fruits and take a break.
Afterwards, you will reach the Pico de las Nieves, one of the highest points of Gran Canaria, with a height of more than 1940 metres. From its viewpoint you will be able to observe a marvellous landscape from which you can distinguish the different peaks, mountains and volcanoes that shape the island. From there you will go to the Parador de Cruz de Tejeda where you can have lunch and spend some time admiring the scenery.
Before returning to the starting point or to your hotel you will pass through Teror, a small village that has a lot to show. You can see the houses with their typical wooden balconies, the market or the Basilica Dama del Pino. You can also stroll through the historic centre and appreciate the curious architecture of the place.
