Step by Step

This tour lasts approximately 8.5 hours and allows you to visit three of the country's famous attractions: wine country, colonial towns and a sanctuary dedicated to wild cheetahs. The tour starts in Cape Town; a minivan will pick you up from your hotel and take you into the interior of the country. An expert guide will be on hand at all times.

The mountain ranges in this area provide an ideal microclimate for vineyards. Varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir or Merlot are produced here. The tour also includes a wine tasting and a stop at the following places:

  • Stellenbosch - The second oldest European settlement in the country. The town is noted for its Georgian and Victorian style buildings, which are shaded by oak trees. Within walking distance of the centre are vineyards producing Pinotage, Chenin Blanc, Shiraz and Méthode Cap Classique, the local champagne.
  • Franschhoek - This picturesque town was founded by the French Huguenots, who came here in 1688 to escape religious persecution. As well as its wines, Franschhoek is famous for its lavender fields, its Bastille Day celebrations and its many restaurants. It is not for nothing that it is considered the gastronomic capital of South Africa.
  • Cheetah Outreach - the nature reserve where wild cheetahs, an endangered species, are kept. The main objective of Cheetah Outreach is the conservation of the species and the coexistence of cheetahs in an environment characterised by agricultural areas and human settlements.
  • Paarl - An increasingly popular destination. It is located on the banks of the Berg River and has a small centre with Dutch-style buildings.

Comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended. If you go in summer - remember that in South Africa it runs from November to February - make sure you also pack sun cream in your backpack.
