Step by Step

The gladiator school gives you an insight into how they fought in ancient Rome. The fee includes the hire of sandals and a tunic, as well as the use of a replica of the weapons of the time. For safety reasons, this is a wooden sword. The experience lasts approximately 2 hours and takes place in the centre of the Eternal City, just a few minutes from the Colosseum. Water or juice is also included.

Trainers will explain the techniques and organise the games. The experience ends with a tournament where you can test what you have learned during the training. This activity is suitable for people of all ages, from 6 year olds to adults. It can be a different idea for a holiday in Rome, as well as an original gift.

Gladiators were the fighters of ancient Rome and their world was made even more famous by films such as Gladiator, starring Russell Crowe. They fought in front of the crowd and presented themselves to the emperor with the famous phrase "Ave Caesar, morituri te salutant" (Hail Caesar, those who are about to die salute you). They were held throughout the empire, although the main stage was the Colosseum in Rome.

In most cases, the gladiators were slaves, condemned to death or prisoners. However, it was not uncommon for aristocrats or other disgraced people to be forced to fight in order to survive. With few exceptions, their life expectancy was not very long. However, thanks to these bloody fights, some athletes managed to gain prestige and even their freedom.

The activity revives the ancient gladiatorial schools without their darker sides. These places were, in fact, like prisons, although the food was better, as they were used to forge fighting champions. For the same reason, they received good medical care.
