Step by Step
When you sign up for this approximately 15-hour tour you will explore Capri, one of the most paradisiacal islands in southern Italy, with a local guide who will explain its history.
You'll depart by bus from Rome to Naples, then board a ferry at the port for Capri, where the popular Piazzetta, the island's historic cultural centre, awaits, offering a variety of fashionable shops, cafes and restaurants.
Local landmarks include the Clock Tower and the ancient cathedral of Santo Stefano, a beautiful religious complex that borders the main square.
You'll take a chairlift up to Monte Solaro, from where you'll get the most idyllic panoramic view of the place, taking in the iconic Faraglioni di Capri, the island's gigantic rocks standing in the Mediterranean Sea.
In the commune of Anacapri, you will visit the popular Blue Grotto by boat (entrance fee not included), a natural wonder where the light illuminates the deep blue of the sea, giving it a surreal crystalline touch.
Your experience will take on another dimension when you see the Villa Jovis, the Roman palace on the summit of Mount Tiberius, where Emperor Tiberius is said to have lived for part of his rule between 14 and 37 AD.
You will also pass through the Gardens of Augustus, a botanical centre that stands out among terraces that point towards the sea, offering you a flowery and lush landscape that matches the deep blue of the sea in the background.
