Step by Step

Get to know the monumental complex Sant'Anna dei Lombardi in Naples with these tickets. This is an experience in the so-called "little Sistine Chapel" where you can discover great works of art. In this building, considered the "pearl" of the Tuscan Renaissance, you can enjoy a downloadable audio guide in several languages to learn about the history of classical art and the monumental complex.

This church dates back to 1411, although it has undergone several renovations over the years. It became the favourite church of the Aragonese royal court and one of the jewels of the Neapolitan Renaissance style, with numerous artistic influences.

One of the masterpieces you will see on entering the church is the sacristy, frescoed by the Italian artist Giorgio Vasari in 1545. By stuccoing the vaults, Vasari created a pictorial cycle divided into three sections inspired by Michelangelo. In fact, it is also known as the "little Sistine Chapel", because the inspiration was taken precisely from that masterpiece.

Some other great pieces that you can find in this jewel are "The Lamentation over the Dead Christ", a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture by the artist Guido Mazzoni in 1492.

Another part of this monumental complex is the Hypogeum, known as the Abbots' Crypt. A hypogeum, in the most generic sense of the term, was understood as an underground construction that could have multiple uses. In this case, it had religious purposes, since its function was precisely that of expiation and burial of the dead.
