Step by Step
Tickets for the Archiginnasio will open the doors of a charming palace. It is located in the heart of the city and was built at the behest of Cardinal Borromeo. The aim was to give a new home to the university, which was housed in several buildings. This building is characterised by the central courtyard and the beautiful ceilings decorated with noble symbols. It now houses a library.
It also houses the Anatomical Theatre, where professors and students performed autopsies. They were assisted in their work by the ceroplasti, who were responsible for faithfully portraying every anatomical detail.
In addition to the entrance fee, a voucher for a gastronomic tasting is included in the total price. It usually took place in the quadrangle, an area close to the Archiginnasium. It was the epicentre of medieval Bologna and gathers bakeries, fishmongers, greengrocers and shops specialised in Bolognese gastronomy. Our partners will offer you mortadella and other typical sausages, cheeses, pasta and much more.
This activity lasts between one and two hours and can be done at any time of the year. Please note that the audio guide must be downloaded to your smartphone. A QR code will be provided.
