Natural hot springs abound in the land of fire and ice, with the Blue Lagoon being the jewel in the crown. Locals believe this is one of the best things to see and do in Reykjavik, especially in the winter season when the cold is hostile.
There are many ways to visit the Blue Lagoon and marvel at the scenery around it. That's why I 'll show you some of my favourite tours to see Iceland's most famous hot springs.
1. Blue Lagoon tour from Reykjavík by bus
This fun tour will depart from Reykjavík and will take you to the Blue Lagoon. It is a bus experience where you will arrive at the lagoon only to enjoy the facilities on site at your leisure. This tour lasts approximately four hours.
You have the option of being picked up at your hotel, or at a point close to your hotel, as many hotels do not allow buses to reach their premises. When you arrive at the lagoon you will notice that there are pools for men and pools for women, and you will also see some amazing photo opportunities such as small waterfalls and other similar scenery.

2. Golden Circle Tour and entrance to the Blue Lagoon
This seven and a half hour tour takes you to the Golden Circle, a must-see set of natural landscapes very close to Reykjavík. In addition, if you select the option, it takes you to the Blue Lagoon where you can spend about three hours enjoying the comforting thermal bath.
This tour is available in different languages, including English. It has a tour guide who will show you different interesting details of each place you visit. Besides the Blue Lagoon, you will be able to see the Gullfoss waterfall, Thingvellir Park and other beauties of this area of Iceland.

3. Fagradafsjall Volcano and Blue Lagoon hike
Fagradalfsjall volcano is one of the most important volcanoes in Iceland. Hiking it during winter is one of the must-see sights that you should definitely include among the best tours to discover Iceland's volcanoes from Reykjavík.
This hike is even more special because after hiking through the snow, you will be able to have a comforting thermal bath. 5. Volcano hike and Blue Lagoon in Reykjanes
The Reykjanes Peninsula is one of the most attractive places to visit in Iceland and that is because this is where you will find the most frequently erupting volcanoes and therefore the coolest lava fields on the island. This is also the location of the Blue Lagoon.
During this experience, which is one of the best excursions and getaways from Reykjavik, you will have the opportunity to take an exciting hike through the places where you can still see the fresh volcanic lava with moss around it. 6. Combined whale watching tour and entrance to the Blue Lagoon
The whale watching tour is a quintessential activity to include on your list of things to do in Reykjavik in summer, and that's because it's the best time to enjoy the arrival of the whales off the coast of Iceland as they come to feed. On this combined tour you'll get to see whales and swim in the Blue Lagoon- more than you could ask for.

7. Tour of Reykjavík and comfortable entrance to the Blue Lagoon
This is one of my favourite tours and that's because it gives you a chance to get a close-up look at Iceland's capital before you go to relax a bit at the Blue Lagoon. Before you go straight to the hot springs, this is one of the best tours of Reykjavík, because you get to know the city in the company of a history expert.
Among the most interesting sites you'll see in Iceland's capital are the Harpa Opera House, the city's church and of course its picturesque streets. After touring the city and soaking up its history and culture, the bus will take you to the Blue Lagoon where you can take a thermal bath in the 40°C waters.

8. Blue Lagoon tour with private driver
This tour takes you by private taxi to the Reykjanes Peninsula, where you'll take in some of the local geography before arriving to relax at Iceland' s most popular natural spa, the Blue Lagoon.
Additional sites on the peninsula include the fishing village of Grindavik and Iceland's oldest lighthouse. This is a private experience for just you and your group, so it is available for a maximum of 4 people.

9. Full day Blue Lagoon and Northern Lights Tour
Winter is the best time to see the Northern Lights from Reykjavík, as they are only visible during the very dark winter nights. On this tour you will have the chance to go hunting for the Northern Lights from Reykjavík and bathe in the hot springs of the Blue Lagoon.
The adventure is in two parts, the first part is an excursion to the Blue Lagoon where you can bathe in the hot springs and enjoy a drink of your choice, and the second part of the excursion will be at dusk to enjoy the Northern Lights. In between you will have time to have dinner and rest in Reykjavík before moving on to the next activity.

Tips for a tour to the Blue Lagoon from Reykjavík
- Always bring warm clothes to every experience, regardless of whether it is winter or summer. Also try to bring comfortable shoes and hiking shoes, as well as waterproof jackets and sunglasses.
