Step by Step

Discover the Samaria Gorge, the second longest gorge in Europe, on this hiking tour from Canea. This is an experience that lasts around 14 hours, with one person accompanying you on this full day, during which you will take various means of transport. You will be transported to and from your hotel in Canea, about 43 kilometres away, in an air-conditioned bus and you can also take a boat to continue exploring this protected area.

Samaria National Park, which is only accessible during the months of May to October and whose entrance ticket is not included in this reservation, is an area located in the southwest of Crete that boasts impressive and unique flora and fauna, as well as one of Europe's greatest attractions.

It is the Samaria Gorge, a natural wonder of some 18 kilometres. It is arguably the most impressive gorge in the Mediterranean with a rugged landscape, large cliffs and streams with crystal clear water.

For example, among the flora and fauna you can find is the kri-kri, a subspecies of the wild goat.

You can walk the gorge route at your own pace, although it usually takes between 5 and 7 hours. The views are breathtaking, so it is recommended that you take your camera with you to capture some amazing images to remember.

It is worth noting that in addition to the gorge, you will also have the opportunity to see some of the Cretan villages found in the park, such as Agia Roumeli, one of the stops after walking through the gorge for all the services it offers.
