Step by Step
Relive the source of Claude Monet's inspiration as you explore his house, gardens and ponds on this half-day excursion from Paris, with a professional local guide.
You'll embark on an air-conditioned coach journey to the home of the forerunner and leading figure of the Impressionist painting movement.
This place became his own foundation in the 1980s, when it opened its doors to the public.
You will stroll through the Water Garden, the most idyllic picturesque scene in the house, stylised with ponds of water lilies that were filled with the stealthy discharge of the river Epte, a tributary of the Seine.
Over these waters perch the beautiful green bridges with wisteria, inspired by Japanese art and landscaping, one of the artist's self-confessed hobbies, which he also captured in his work.
At the front of the main house, whose windows and parts of the façade are also painted a deep green, are the gardens known as the Clos Normandy, which offer a visual spectacle straight out of Monet's paintings.
In spring, especially, its countless lilies, roses, daffodils, nasturtiums, peonies and many other types of plants and flowers stand out, offering an unforgettable concert of colour, light and splendour for every visitor.
A visit here is a floral paradise of light and shadow, with towering trees, vines and weeping willows, reflecting the scenes immortalised in Monet's paintings.
After the tour of the foundation, you will also have the opportunity to visit the historic centre of the village of Giverny, located on the west bank of the Seine River in the Normandy region.
