Step by Step

This tour follows in Van Gogh's footsteps in Provence. An expert guide will accompany you throughout the tour, telling you anecdotes about the Dutch artist. The tour lasts about 6 hours and you will travel in an air-conditioned minivan.

The first stop is the splendid town of Arles, where Van Gogh spent the last years of his life. Deeply inspired by the Mediterranean colours and atmosphere, he found the subjects of his paintings in the Parc des Lices, the amphitheatre, the banks of the Rhône, the Café La Nuit and elsewhere in the city. A stop is also planned at the Espace Van Gogh, the former hospital where he was admitted after cutting off his ear.

Many famous works depict Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among the most famous are "The Yellow House","Starry Night on the Rhône", "Café Terrace at Night" and "Bedroom in Arles".

The second stop is Saint-Remy de Provence, a Provençal borgo which houses the monastery and psychiatric hospital of Saint Paul de Mausole, where Van Gogh painted more than 100 paintings. If you visit this place on Whit Monday, you will be able to attend the Transhumance Festival, with thousands of sheep and shepherds in their traditional costumes. In addition to the Dutch artist, this picturesque place was also the birthplace of Nostradamus.

The tour does not include lunch, but in both municipalities you will have the opportunity to taste the region's specialities such as Socca (chickpea-based flatbread) or the Ensalada nizarda (Nicaraguan salad). To make the most of the route, it is advisable to wear comfortable shoes and clothes.

I liked the tour, it has a very artistic profile around the life and history of Van Gogh. In itself during the tour you can appreciate the influence of Van Gogh on everything, and at the same time the influence that the place had on Van Gogh. A pity about his life, but he still made history. It is nice to pay tribute to him in this way.
