Step by Step
Explore the Tijuca rainforest on a hiking tour to Pedra de Gávea from Rio de Janeiro, a journey of approximately 8 hours.
The tour will be led by a local guide, who will accompany you on your 844-metre ascent on foot, while you admire the variety of flora and fauna of the rainforest. The points of interest you will visit are:
- Parque Nacional da Tijuca: the Pedra Trail is located in this 39 square kilometre park, one of the largest urban rainforests in the world. With countless plant and animal species, several waterfalls and natural springs.
- Pedra da Gávea: it is the largest monolith in the world located on the coast. You will walk along a path for about two hours until you reach the top.
There is a basic rock climbing section during the ascent called Carrasqueira, your guide will give you all the information, technique and equipment to rappel up and down.
When you reach the top you will enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro where you will see iconic landmarks such as Christ the Redeemer.
The tour is conducted in small groups of about 6 participants to ensure a more personalised and closer experience.
