Step by Step

This small group guided tour departs from Melbourne and travels along the Great Ocean Road, the famous scenic route of South Australia. The tour lasts approximately 12 hours and travels in an air-conditioned minivan.

The Great Ocean Road allows you to enjoy beautiful scenery and beaches. Before the trip starts, there is a stop in the town of Winchelsea, where you can have breakfast if you wish (at your own expense). The following is a list of the main stops:

  • The Twelve Apostles - Spectacular pinnacles within Port Campbell National Park. The slow erosion of the cliffs has created these rocky outcrops just metres from the beach. A short distance away, you will also visit the rocks known as Gibsons Steps.
  • The Razorback - A spectacular limestone formation within an inlet. It is subject to the incessant combined action of water and wind.
  • Loch Ard - A gorge with high cliffs. Named after the British clipper of the same name that ran aground in these waters in 1878.
  • Great Otway National Park - A nature reserve that includes the coastline along the Great Ocean Road and inland. It is famous for its numerous waterfalls, giant ferns and redwoods. Inland is Mait's Rest, a short and easy walk through the rainforest.
  • Kennett River Koala Walk - An area where it is possible to admire these animals. They are solitary and feed on eucalyptus leaves.

The walk usually ends at Teddy's Lookout, a lookout overlooking the ocean and the mouth of the St George River. As it's outdoors, it's advisable to pack sunscreen in your backpack.
